The Davies Craig EWP®180 (24 Volt) is our highest-flowing Electric Water Pump, engineered for extreme cooling performance in commercial, heavy-duty, marine, and industrial applications operating... Key specs: 180 l/min | 47.6 gal/min flow rate; 17 A (Max 20 A) max current.

The Davies Craig EWP180 (24 Volt) is our highest-flowing Electric Water Pump, engineered for extreme cooling performance in commercial, heavy-duty, marine, and industrial applications operating on 24V electrical systems. Designed for universal engine fitment, it satisfies the most demanding setups that generate massive amounts of heat.

By removing the parasitic power losses of traditional belt-driven mechanical pumps, the EWP180 releases significant extra power and torque. While it delivers an impressive 180 L/min open flow, its true capability is maintaining strong, usable circulation under massive restriction: an incredible 93 L/min @ 1.5 Bar (15m Head). This ensures your cooling system works flawlessly when fighting through restrictive radiators and long plumbing runs.

Advanced Brushless Motor Technology

The EWP180 utilizes state-of-the-art brushless motor engineering combined with a digital control system to maximize efficiency and reliability under extreme loads:

  • Zero Brush Wear: Eliminating carbon brushes removes mechanical friction, drastically extending the operational lifespan and reliability of the internal motor.
  • Magnetic Drive Design: Features a fully coupled magnetic impeller, which isolates the motor from the fluid chamber and completely eliminates traditional mechanical shaft seals that are prone to leaking.
  • PWM Speed Control: Fully compatible with advanced Pulse Width Modulation. This allows an aftermarket ECU or a dedicated controller to seamlessly vary the pump's speed based on real-time engine demands, saving energy and minimizing current draw.
  • IP68 Environmental Protection: The entire electronics unit and motor assembly are fully sealed against dust ingress and continuous water immersion, making it ideal for harsh commercial environments and marine use.

Installation demonstration & controller overview

EWP & Controller Installation Demonstration

Combined with a dedicated PWM Brushless EWP Controller (or integrated with an aftermarket ECU), you can manage the operation of the EWP precisely. The advanced PWM flow control allows the pump speed to be varied seamlessly in response to the engine’s cooling demands, offering unparalleled thermal stability.

Key benefits

The world’s most advanced total engine cooling management system:

  • longer service life
  • stable flow under pressure
  • PWM control compatible
  • IP68 fully sealed
  • reduced internal friction
  • world-leading technology

EWP® installation options

Installing an EWP® as an AUXILIARY PUMP

  • Leaving the mechanical water pump in place, install the EWP into the bottom radiator hose.
  • Remove the thermostat and drill two approx. 3mm (1/8") holes in the thermostat plate to allow some coolant circulation when the thermostat is closed. Re-install ensuring that the thermostat housing is clean and a new gasket is used if required.

EWP® installation – disabling Mechanical water pump

  • Leaving the mechanical water pump in place, install the EWP into the bottom radiator hose and remove the manufacturer’s thermostat.
  • You will need to bypass the water pump pulley by installing an appropriate length belt (not supplied). This method makes for an easy installation.
  • If running the pump continuously remove the thermostat and drill two approx. 3mm (1/8") holes in the thermostat plate to allow some coolant circulation.

In both these cases, the EWP will pump past the impeller of the mechanical water pump.

Disengaged mechanical water pump (recommended)

  • Remove the mechanical water pump and remove the thermostat.
  • Then remove the impeller from the mechanical pump shaft. Retain the mechanical water pump using the pump pulley as an idler to avoid re-routing the drive belt.
  • Block any bypass passages and re-install the disengaged water pump.

Removed mechanical water pump (Ideal)

  • Remove the mechanical water pump and thermostat from the engine.
  • Install a Davies Craig EWP Header Adaptor or blanking plate (not supplied).
  • Install the EWP into the bottom radiator hose. This method will require you to modify or replace the standard radiator hose.
